I'm going to a new school and I'm finding it really difficult to make friends?

I'm going to a new school in auckland new Zealand and I originally live in the US. I joined music and dancing cl and I'm the odd person out so I dance all by myself. At lunch and morning tea(which is like recess) alone and the guy that was my friend said that he didn't want me to be his friend anymore. Help please
