Hey my boyfriend said this,what does it mean?

well my bf isnt spanish but is very fluent in it and he often speaks spanish around me when he doesnt want me to know something. this time he said something like te quiero mucho or mucho te quiero i cant remember but when i ask him things and he doesnt want to tell me he says i love you, and when i asked him what that ment he said i love you so what does it mean? and how would you say i love you in spanish?
