What's the difference between a flapper girl hat and a beanie?

Ok so I'm trying to make a flapper hat but can't find a simple pattern. I'm pretty experienced working both crochet and knit hats... So if I could have a solid basic idea I could modify it how I need to. But I can't find one. So, now I'm asking to find out if there is a difference in a flapper hat and beanie. So I can see if I should just make a basic beanie or adjust it.
